Located in Hannan City—known as the place where the sea and mountains are closest in Osaka Prefecture—this private villa stands halfway up a mountain slope.
Despite being only a 20-minute drive from Kansai International Airport, it offers a serene environment: lush green mountains rise behind it, while below spreads a captivating panorama of cityscape and sea.
It is a rare location that allows one to enjoy both convenience and tranquility, the urban and the natural.
To make the most of the magnificent view from the site, the first floor is designed as an RC pilotis structure, elevating the main living level (2F) by 3.5 meters. This positioning clears the surrounding buildings, offering an unobstructed view across the bay—on clear days, all the way to Awaji Island—and at night, the gentle glow of airplanes taking off and landing at Kansai Airport.
Inside, the living room, kitchen counter, and dining area each have carefully designed eye levels, with subtle floor height adjustments ensuring that wherever one stands or sits, the landscape always unfolds before their eyes.
In the kitchen, a 1.5-meter-wide, 19mm-thick steel plate allows for authentic teppanyaki cooking. Intended as the symbolic heart of the house, it is a place where people gather, cook, and converse.
The bathroom features both a sauna and an open-air bath, allowing guests to soak while surrounded by the sounds of birds and insects—or step out onto the terrace to feel the mountain breeze.
In winter, the glow of a wood-burning stove fills the space with warmth, offering a richly atmospheric stay in harmony with nature.
